Last summer, I was browsing through the Top 100 songs on Billboard when I saw that Ben Haggerty, famously known as Macklemore, has finally topped the charts with his single "Thrift Shop."
I'm not a fan of hip hop or rappers but when I read through Macklemore's biography, I got inspired by his determination and hard work to pursue his music career. He started independently releasing music in the 2000s. I love how he did not rely on big managements to control his career.
A lot of people today are saying that Macklemore will be the next Eminem. Fact: Macklemore is the only rapper NOT of African-American descent that has been on the Top 5 songs on Billboard, after Eminem of course. For me, Eminem is Eminem and will forever be "The Eminem" and Macklemore is Macklemore and I can't wait to see what else is in store for him in his career.
